Dr. James C. Kaufman is a Professor of Psychology at the California State University at San Bernardino. He is the author or editor of 23 books either published or in press. These include Creativity 101 (Springer, 2009); Cambridge Handbook of Creativity (with Robert Sternberg; Cambridge, 2010); Essentials of Creativity Assessment (with Jonathan Plucker and John Baer; Wiley, 2008), and International Handbook of Creativity (with Sternberg; Cambridge, 2006). Kaufman has published more than 200 papers, chapters, and reviews. His research has been featured and discussed in CNN, NPR, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, New Yorker, and the BBC. He has traveled around the world talking about the power of creativity, keynoting in Taiwan, Qatar, Korea, Spain, France, and other places.
Kaufman is the President of American Psychological Association's Division 10 (Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts). He is a Fellow of APA (Divisions 1, 5, 10) and the Association for Psychological Science. He is also the founding editor of APA's newest journal, Psychology of Popular Media Culture. He is also the editor of the International Journal of Creativity and Problem Solving and he is the Series Editor of the "Psych 101" series from Springer Publishing. He was a founding co-editor of the official journal for APA's Division 10, Psychology of Aesthetics, Creativity, and the Arts In addition, he has served as an Associate Editor for Psychological Assessment, Journal of Creative Behavior, and Research in the Schools. His awards include the 2003 Daniel E. Berlyne Award and the 2012 Paul Farnsworth Award from APA's Division 10, the 2008 E. Paul Torrance Award from the National Association of Gifted Children, the 2011-2012 Mensa Education & Research Foundation's Award for Excellence in Research, and the 2009 Early Career Research Award from the Western Psychological Association.
Marilyn is a Director of the Creativity Centre UK Ltd, and Chief Executive of the Creativity Centre Educational Trust - a voluntary role. A chartered psychologist and author, her work has been presented and published internationally.
Marilyn enjoys talking about creativity education in the UK. This was the theme of her keynote presentations at the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association of Educational Psychology in Shizuoka, Japan; the Torrance Lecture Series, Athens, Georgia; and the International Forum on Creativity at the opening of the Nobel Prize Centennial Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur where she was also a panel member for Forging the Creative Agenda for Malaysia. Marilyn has also undertaken consultancy on the development of creativity for various government bodies in the UK and overseas.
Before co-founding the Creativity Centre with Caroline, Marilyn spent much of her career in the university sector undertaking research and teaching creativity education, developmental and cognitive psychology. At Leeds Metropolitan University, where she was Reader in Psychology, she set up the cross-university Centre for Innovation and Creativity (CIC) as well as devising and delivering a series of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in applied creativity, supervising research and undertaking her own research into creativity in education.
One of the things Marilyn most enjoys is meeting people from all over the world and collaborating with them to create publications and learning resources in the area of creativity and human development, which is one reason why she enjoys being an editor of this journal.
As a founding Editorial Board member of this new journal The International Journal of Creativity and Human Development, I wish to give you an insight into the work I have been engaged in over the past fifteen years. I have come to the academy from the community-engaged arts sector, what now may be termed research led practice. Primarily, my interest focuses on the area of social impact and human, social and cultural capital development.
Chris Barlow is a researcher, consultant, professor, and author who has been involved in the management and teaching of team creativity and strategic thinking for more than thirty years. His expertise and experience focuses on the effectiveness of cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams addressing complex goals such as corporate strategy, organizational design, product development, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Professor M. K. Raina has devoted almost four decades to studying and researching different aspects of creativity, giftedness and talent. For his contributions, he was nominated in 1992 for the Torrance Creativity Award of the National Association of Gifted Children in the US. During 1986-87, he was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar in the Torrance Center of Creative Studies at the University of Georgia, Athens, USA.
