Dr Girishwar Misra


Girishwar Misra is Professor of Psychology at the University of Delhi. His research and teaching interests include self and culture, creativity, cognitive development, social disadvantage, psychology of self, and Indian psychology. He has published extensively. His recent publications include Applied Social Psychology in India (Sage, 1990), Handbook of Psychology in India (Oxford, 2011), Foundations of Indian Psychology (with Matthijs & Varma, Pearson, 2011) and four volumes of Psychology in India: Advances in Research (Pearson, 2011).

He is the Editor of Psychological Studies published by Springer and an editorial board member of several national and international journals. His recent editorial experience includes Editor, Psychology Series, Pearson Education; Editorial Fellow, Project on History of Indian Science, Culture and Philosophy; Editor 5th and 6th Survey of Psychology Research in India by the Indian Council of Social Science Research, and several others. He has been a Senior Fulbright Scholar, National Fellow Indian Council of Social Science Research and member of several national and international psychology associations and advisory boards.
